Do you feel constantly confused about what decisions to make for your child? Do you often feel that you don't know how to make the best decisions for your deaf or hard of hearing child?

If you are doubting and second guessing yourself when it comes to decision making with your child, then you might want to take a second look at the providers and professionals that work with you and your child!

Unfortuantely there are still some bad providers out there who do not view parents as collaborators in your child's healthcare or school education.

When you have enough of these providers, THEIR doubts and questions start to slowly chip away at your self trust as a parent.

Today on the podcast we are talking about how to recognize the warning signs that your provider might be hurting your ability to trust yourself when it comes to making important decisions for your child.

Are you cranky because you were up with a toddler at night who would rather have a prty than go to sleep? Can’t get your child out of your bed and getting kicked in the back by a toddler all night? A sleep deprived parent is a cranky parent, and I’m so thankful that we have Melanie Duval to get us some sleep and save our sanity!

Melenie has over 26 years of experience in the field of lactation, parent education, and infant sleep support. Melenie became passionate about healthy sleep for families after hearing the stories of sleep deprivation over and over again from new parents. She dove into the world of infant and postpartum sleep and began working as a night nanny in 2017. As the owner of Goodnight Baby, LLC, she has dedicated her career to helping families obtain healthy, happy sleep.

Melanie is also a hard of hearing adult and was a guest once on our podcast in episode 11. She’s back to talk to us all about baby and toddler sleep, and she gives special tips to our listeners about how to support sleep in your DHH child.

I’ve been talking to a lot of parents lately who feel a lot of guilt about either late identifying their deaf or hard of hearing child, or not giving their child enough language sooner.

I know this journey with hearing loss was probably not what you expected and there have been a lot of challenges along the way.

I want to talk today about why we are feeling this guilt and what you can do to release the guilt today to parent your child with more clarity and confidence.

Today I’m going to talk about a concern that came up in a parent community that I was a part of last week.

The parent was concerned that their child was no longer interested in using ASL to communicate and wanted to know if this was OK, and how to help their child continue learning ASL.

In this episode we are going to talk about why taking a break from signing is not a problem for your child, and what you can do to continue to support your child’s language skills during this time.
